Independent Living Health Support Specialist

The Independent Living Health Support Specialist reports to the Deputy Director and works as a team member, with moderate supervision. Responsible for the management of public health projects geared towards persons with disabilities.

Develops strategies that boost social support, such as supportive social networks, partnerships, and similar actions that can help respond to COVID-19 or prepare the disabled community for other public health challenges. Creates and disseminates public health messages, eliciting feedback from individuals and groups.  Responds to requests for information and referrals from consumers, their families, and the community.

Maintains detailed records using the CILSuite data entry system.

Independent Living (IL) Skills Coordinator (San Marcos, Texas): Provide IL services such as independent living skills instruction, peer support, information & referral, etc., to persons with disabilities in Hays and surrounding counties from our office in San Marcos, Texas. Good communication, problem-solving, and remote computer skills. Must also provide CARES Act services to people with disabilities. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (experience may substitute). Full-time position, located in San Marcos, Texas. Pay: $1,267.20 bi-weekly. 36 hours per week. ASL, bilingual (Span – Eng.) a plus. Equal Opportunity Employer. Must have own transportation and valid Texas driver's license. Travel required. Mileage reimbursed. Background check required.
